            The College of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (MAE), one of the earliest colleges of the university, has three undergraduate majors, respectively mechanical design and manufacturing and their automation (a provincial featured major), material molding and control engineering, and vehicle engineering, as well as one junior college major, mechatronics. As to date, a total of 1144 full-time students study at the College and the number ratio between undergraduate students and junior college students falls to 6:4. The College comprises 54 faculty members, including 9 professors and 20 doctors. 40% of the full-time teachers are teachers with vice-senior titles, 83% have a Master’s degree or above, 64% are dual-skilled teachers, and 80% Party members. One teacher is entitled as a provincial prominent teacher and four teachers are on the list of the Provincial 151 Talents; one acts as a provincial young and middle-aged academic leader of higher education institutions, three as provincial academic leaders, one as a member of the Provincial Committee for Instructions on Undergraduate Teaching of Higher Education Institutions, seven as Master supervisors, and two as Ph.D. supervisors. The College never changes its school-running concept canted on students. Featured with mechanical innovation, the College focuses on learning for application and makes full use of experimental and training bases inside and outside the university to improve students practical ability. In recent years, the College has invested RMB 23 million to teaching instruments and equipment. One provincial teaching demonstration center and more than 30 experimental and training bases inside and outside the university were established. Mechanical engineering is a provincial first-class discipline under the 13th Five-Year Plan, mainly researching the technology for designing, manufacturing, and controlling water conservancy machinery equipment. Students actively participated in various competitions of after-school scientific and technology works. In the recent three years, students have won more than 60 prizes, such as the prize for the Provincial Mechanical Innovative Design Contest. Under the condition of newly-emerging engineering construction and engineering education professional certification, personnel training explores and implements SWH-CDIO-E, a personnel training model oriented by competence development to realize the integration between the water conservancy consciousness and engineering education concepts, namely CDIO and OBE. The College pays attention to develop students practical ability and reaches high-quality technology-applied personnel with the awareness of craftsman through a scientific and reasonable curriculum system for training applied personnel.
